Is may seem, that its simple to just say, how many episodes in certain series. And normally it is so, but in case of Pokemon, there is a number of special cases. Which may or may not be counted as episodes. Such as (by series):
1. Pokemon (Original Series) - depending of calculation original series contains 274 or 276 episodes. Problem with it lays into inclusion or exclusion of episodes "Holiday Hi-Jynx" and "Snow Way Out". Originally these episodes was supposed to be shown after episode 38 Dennou Senshi Porigon. But since it cosed famous incident, they ware shown only much later. So they can be counted for normal episodes (as they mostly do counts) or specials. It also worth to note, that 3 episodes of original series, was banned in the west, but one of them was shown much later. They are: Aopuruko no Kyuujitsu (banned due to fake breast of James, shown later), Miniryuu no Densetsu (banned due to small scene with gun usage), and Koori no Doukutsu! (banned due to Jinx appearance). While Dennou Senshi Porigon not only also banned in the west, but was not even shown again in Japan. So it banned worldwide, but its recordings are available in Internet anyway.
2. Pokemon AG - depending of calculation Pokemon AG contains 190-193 episodes. In AG there is three problems with calculation. Most important of them, is episode AG101 Yureru Shima no Tatakai! Dojotchi Baasasu Namazun!!. It was announced, and preview for it was publicly shown. But episode itself was never shown, not in Japan, neither in the west. Reason for this, is that it did featured earthquakes, and there was earthquake in Japan before it was supposed to be shown. Originally there was plans to show it later, but it was never actually shown. Second problem lays in episode Satoshi to Haruka! Houen de no Atsuki Batoru!!. Which is recap of older episodes (and it also was not shown in the west). So it may be counted or not counted as new episode. And third problem is episode Pokemon Renjaa! Deokishisu Kuraishisu!!. It do have length of 2 episodes, but originally was shown as 1 (but it is 2 episodes on DVD). So it may be counted as 1 or 2 episodes.
3. Pokemon DP - this series have no problem with calculation. It contains 191 episode.
4. Pokemon BW - depending of calculation Pokemon BW contains 142 or 144 episodes. Problem with this one lays in episodes BW23 Roketto Dan VS Purazuma Dan! (Zenpen) and BW24 Roketto Dan VS Purazuma Dan! (Kouhen). Situation with them is very similar to AG101. They was planned to be shown, and even was actively promoted, but due to major disaster in Japan, they was never shown anywhere. While one more episode, switched order of showing.
5. Pokemon XY - this series mostly can be counted as 140 episodes. But there was one problem with late showing of episode Kaitei no Shiro! Kuzumou to Doramidoro!! due to sinking of the MV Sewol. But it was shown anyway. And some people count Mega Evolution special, as 4 normal episodes (with them there will be 144 episodes).
6. Pokemon SM - in Japan this series have no problem with calculation. And contains 146 episodes. But episode SM64 Satoshi to Nagetsukesaru! Yuujou no Tatchidaun!! was banned in the west (due to race related issues).
7. Pokemon (2019) - for now there is no problems with calculations of episodes, but it only recently started.
